About Me
As a previous teacher and a mother of two lovely girls - a teenager and a toddler - I have always felt that there was something missing whenever I wanted to buy story books, clothing, accessories or toys. Everything seemed to be made for the parents and not for the children to enjoy.
In a world full of electronic gadgets I felt the need to show my daughters that there are beautiful toys that can be custom made for them and not made of plastic.
I have started out by writting short stories and poems for my eldest daughter and then went on by sewing pieces of clothing for both of them and learning the technics of sewing, embroidering and making crochet along the way.
All my works - illustrations, stories, toys and accessories - are inspired by nature, poetry and a magical world where fairies, angels and animals can be your friends.
While growing up I was very much influenced by Beatrix Potter's tales and illustrations - my eldest daughter was named after her - and by 'The Wind in the Willows' children's novel by Kenneth Grahame and they are still part of my world today.
More recently, I have come into contact with the 'Tilda' world
by Tonne Finnanger and some of my creations were inspired on hers.
I faithfully buy every month 'Country Living', 'Country Homes and Interiors' and 'Marie Claire Idées' magazines that bring me that cheerfulness of the countryside and always a range of stories of other fellow artisans that try to follow their dreams.
My main aim is to bring a smile to everyone that buys one of my handmade creations and to remind everyone that 'Love is in all little things' that we sometimes tend to overlook.
Be happy, enjoy life and I hope you enjoy CottonCandy-AlgodãoDoce and that we became part of your life.
